Everything You Need to Know About Seiko 5

The long journey of this Japanese watch company started in 1881 with the opening of “K. Hattori” by Kintaro Hattori, a watch and jewelry shop in the heart of Tokyo. Later, this 31 year old man, Hattori, bought an abandoned factory and began to manufacture his first wall clocks under the name of Seikosha in 1892.

In Japanese terms, Seiko has a meaning of “exquisite”, “minute”, or “success”, while Sha means “house”. As time went by, his business in producing wall clocks and pocket watches expanded quickly.

In the early 20th century, in the Taisho Era, the founder successfully created his first wristwatch using a mechanical movement because only a few timepieces were imported to Japan. Further, they continuously improved some innovations, making the debuts of the first world’s quartz watch “The Astron”.

Now speaking about Seiko 5, the new line-up, which was originally introduced in 1963, reconstructs the performa of the watch by adding 5 main keys. They provide you with an automatic movement, day and date indicator at 3 o’clock position, high water resistant, unbreakable mainspring, and a crown that is situated at 4 o’clock position.

Introducing Seiko 5 Collections

Every Seiko 5 collection is made of a strong case with an automatic movement 4R36 that can withstand 100 meter water depth. Each collection has its own unique character. Below are their 5 new collections you need to know.
