As a distinguished case maker back in the day, Squale is no stranger in producing beautiful and robust watch cases. The Squale Sub-39 GMT Vintage is housed in a robust 316L highly-polished stainless steel case inspired by Squale models from back in the 1960s, a meticulously designed piece of art that remained timeless, even by today’s standards. Coming in a size that rests perfectly between a contemporary tool watch and an elegant vintage timepiece, the 39mm diameter wears exceptionally well on the wrist as a result of its gently curved lugs bearing a lug to lug distance of 48.5mm and a case thickness of merely 12mm.
The Squale Sub-39 GMT Vintage features a bi-directional 24-hour bezel for the reading of an additional time zone. Mimicking the glossy sheen of bakelite bezels prominent in ‘60s dive watches, the black K1 glass insert exhibits a warm lustre, complementing the deep cream bezel markers - pulling off an imposing aged look. At the 3 o’clock position, the distinct diamond-shaped, screw-down crown grants a smooth and easy operation when setting the time. This conical crown design is inspired by crowns on aviation timepieces, allowing the crown to be operated with ease even with gloves on. On top of that, it is signed gorgeously with the prestigious "von Büren" logo, a symbol of pride in its quality.

Together with the screw-down crown, the Squale SUB-39 GMT Vintage is equipped with a screw-in stainless steel case back etched with Squale’s classic shark logo. This achieves a substantial 300m of water resistance despite its slim and elegant case profile.
The deep black dial of the Squale Sub-39 GMT Vintage showcases an understated beauty with a simple and incredibly legible layout, consisting of only vital elements without unnecessary clutter. For a handsome retro touch, the hour indices, as well as the hour, minute and GMT hands are treated generously with Swiss Super-LumiNova “Old Radium” lume, capturing the aged look of vintage ‘60s timepieces while emitting a strong visible glow in the dark.

Bringing a striking pop of color, the bright red GMT hand adds vibrancy and a dash of sophistication to the dial while offering the functionality of tracking an additional time zone when not under water. To complete the retro experience, the boxed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment mimics the vintage look and feel of plexiglass used in the past while providing superior scratch resistance.
Despite having a vintage appearance, the Squale Sub-39 GMT Vintage is driven by the ever-reliable Swiss ETA 2893-2 automatic GMT movement that delivers the stellar performance of 21st century watchmaking. Regulated and tested by Squale’s expert watchmakers, this 21 jewel movement runs at a rate of 28,800 beats per hour and a substantial power reserve of approximately 40 hours.

Combining the robustness of a dive watch with the functional feature of a GMT timepiece, this is a timeless beauty made for the adventurous traveler that seeks for a trusty do-it-all companion.
